Jayne Sanderson
I bought my first camera about 15 years ago and was happily taking traditional landscapes but put my camera in storage whilst Richard and I spent 5 years restoring our 1890's house. During this time I began researching the Arts and Craft movement to guide us in our restoration. I had been very influenced by the colours, design and the artists of that period. So much so that when I took up my camera again my style of photography had become very ethereal, trying to capture an emotional response rather than a true representation of the landscape.
I tend not to pursue any particular method to the exculsion of anything else because there's always interest down every rabbit hole. I use a variety of Lensbaby creative lenses, a modified Helios lens and standard lenses and filters on a Canon 5Dmkiii, which gives me the basic machinery to start my creative process. After that it's a matter of constant practice and perseverance. The bright summer gave the opportunity to experiment more with Cyanotypes, that has lead to enhacing printed images with mixed media and gold leaf.
The creative journey is endless and I'm enjoying every minute of it.
Birds in Flight
I love photographing the movement of birds in flight using a slow shutter speed making a more abstract image with added texture.
Outer Hebrides
The Isles of Harris and North Uist are special places for me, the light and colours are sublime. I especially enjoy the solitude and peace, which I hope to capture in my images.
Flowers and Trees
I use Lensbaby lens to add an ethereal quality to my flower images. ICM and in camera Multi Exposures to simplfy trees and woodland scenes.
People
These images were taken on Tresco and the Isles of Harris where you get lovely sandy beaches with the occaisional sandbanks when the tide changes. I've always been lucky to be just in the right place to take the photo.
Ongoing Work
These are ongoing interests that I have recently started. Squashing panoramic landscapes, patterns and ripples in my local river and Cyanotypes when the sun is shining. Submerged flower photography and embellishing printed images with inks, paints and gold leaf also keep me busy.
